87 48hp jonnie cant drop lower unit

A friend asked me and I dont know.He is replacing the water pump in his 48 jonnie and I assume he has to disconnect the shaft to drop it.He has all the bolts out and wants to know how to get it the rest of the way off.Any help would be appreciated and I will pass it on.Charlie

Look for the shift rod attachment under the bottom carburetor.

Thanks DJ,does anything else have to be disconnected to do this or is it just that attachment for the rod?? Charlie

Charlie, <br /><br />That should be it. Make sure you get the bolt under the trim fin. The fin above the prop.
