and it feels a bit slower off the line, 4 cyl. 2.0 dohc , auto tranny, is it possible timing is off? They also put new rotors etc on, as the previous pads wore out in 9K, (sticky calipers), I'm maybe thinking rotors dragging or timing off? Dist was cracked and blowing oil all over w/ the occasional oil soaked miss, also new cap and wires although mine had maybe 10K on them and good ones, new dist had diff cap?? Had this car 3.5 yrs, summer is a steady 27-29 mpg, winter 26-28, the gas light def comes on sooner!
144K on it and it runs great

Cant remember on that particular car but it may takes a few mile for the ECM to relearn after a tune up. Some thing you may want to do on that engine is cut open the mass air flow meter cover and adjust the ratchet spring that controls the opening rate of the meter. You will gain some power and a lot of gas mileage. Just remember to seal it well when done and only 2 clicks when adjusting.

It's been about 1200 mi, so the ECM should be ok, I'll look into the MAF

Most vehicles need 25 + key restarts to finish the relearn process Toyota takes 40....so it's not as simple as turning the key off and on you have to drive a few ....maybe 10 miles example for 1 RESTART

Sounds like brakes are hanging up, your flexable brake lines may be bad.

Oh geez, get this - so I know brakes wearing prematurely, those ceramic pads dont like the rotors, will have em redone for free again soon, and I had a feeling bad mpg was intake related, yanked out air filter and drove it for a week, bang!! Back to good 27 mpg!!??? I swear though, that filter really wasn't that bad, have drove w/ worse!! But replaced with STP(had Fram) and I'm gonna keep an eye on it!

failed smog due to the wing nuts who installed new dist., timing off by 6 degrees!! And they broke a vacuum fitting - had em fix and todays fill up was just about 28 mpg - yayyy!!
