Motor starts and idles fine. As soon as i put it in gear it dies. In order to get anywhere i have to go full throttle quickly. It will start slow then after about 5 seconds it will rev up and take off. It will go full throttle for long distances with no problem. As soon as I let up on the throttle to slow down it will just sputter and die. Makes it impossible to go thru no wake zones!!!

It seems that when i put it in gear its not getting enough fuel. I removed the cowling and had my buddy move the throttle. It doesnt seem like the throttle cam is even moving til the throttle was almost all the way. How can i fix that?

Thanks!

My buddy and i rebuild them with the kits in June. Its been run about 5-6 times since then. Right after the rebuild ithe boat ran great! Only thing was that the boat was idling too high. My friend adjusted it to idle at 1800rpms. Ot seems ever since he messed around with that i have had this issue.

1800rpms at idle is way too high. I think it's supposed to idle around 900rpm in gear.

Ok, it's been about 1 1/2 months since I first posted this thread and I'm having the same exact problem! I have now adjusted it to where it idles at 1100 and it sounds great! The problem again comes when I push the throttle into gear. It just dies! I have run it a couple of times after tinkering with it in my driveway. What I do to get going I idle, then push the throttle 100% open. 50% of the time it will actually stay on and SLOWLY pick up speed. Sometimes is takes a minute and then all of a sudden it will go full bore! Once I am running it can run all day and it runs smooth.

Again the problem is that I cannot travel in "1st gear". This is a problem because I launch out of a no wake zone. I have to pretty much go full blast then coast til I get out of the no wake zone. This is very frustrating. Plus I cannot get out of shallow water because I have no punch to hole shot.

I do need to mention that it runs perfect on the muffs at home. It will go into gear, the prop engages and it will pick up prop speed and rpm's as I push the throttle forward. It is only when under load that it dies in gear.

Please help! Thank you
