my outboard usually starts pretty good cold but it dies when you put it in gear unless you get on it [ not good in tourny's ] after it warms up it idles in gear ok but is hard to start and the starter will sometimes kick back and sometimes when you run to the ramp to load it wont idle it runs great top end i have been fighting this prob for years if anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate thank you

Serial# Model any other info.Do a compression/spark test. That check OK then do the rest.
I'm guessing it's carbs.Start with a complete hose replace. All the hoses on the carbs and pumps squeezie too.Replace any filters.Install a water/fuel seperating filter.Clean the carbs and reset the float level(manual?)
Reset the air screw and rebuild the fuel pump.On the Force section is a sticky at the top read these and look for a linc and sinc.Make sure the idle is set right.Warm,in gear about 750-800rpm.J

Re: 87 marnier150 m idle problems

thanks for answering my post on the 150 marnier ive rebuilt the carbs and all and im thinking it might be the idle module becaue it will be idling and then sounds like it cuts off and that the motor is not firing properly then it wil jump up again at high speeds it runs great without a miss does this sound like an idle module to you? thank you for your help and thoughts

Sounds like general out of tune. Go back to the first answer.
