'87 Power Head Into '79 Case

I'm putting a '87 power head into a '79 case; broke the '79 crank.
I have found 2 design differences and am wondering if there's more.
I found the lower seal and o-ring combo changed to double-seal; must have been changed for service personnel.
Also, I have found a different dimension on the vertical control shaft location. Will the new vertical control shaft bearing clamp fit OK in the '79?
Anything else?
Thanks.

Yes it will work as far as the double seal is concerned, I have an 88 powerhead sitting on an 83 body.

What is "Will the new vertical control shaft bearing clamp fit OK" , what are you referring to?

The dimension between the throttle vertical control shaft and it's seat on the case is different. The '79 has longer bosses on the case (by about 1/4") so the '79 bearing clamp is two pieces of sheet metal with two realtively short screws. The '87 has shorter bosses on the case so the '79 bearing clamp will not work. The control shaft is the same for both, so it looks like the magic is a new bearing block clamp.

K I've changed my reply several times. You are referring to the 2 holes that hold the throttle control with the 2 tin pieces. It just worked, I used the 88 powerhead and it bolted up the the 83. The 79 looks the same according to the parts site.

Ok part numbers are different, they didnt change the diagram. I just went out and took pics of the 83 and 88, they are close but they both bolted up.

The mounts aren't on the bypass cover. The mounts are on the front half of the crankcase. Don't now why, but, what I have isn't like the exploded views in the Bombardier parts lists.
The BRP exploded views show the bosses on the bypass cover, but they are not.
There are no bosses on my bypass cover, only through holes.
By the BRP exploded views, your '83 had the thicker bearing clamp from the factory so you didn't even see my issue.

I posted pics above, does yours look like the white crankcase?

So is it a matter changing the bearing clamp p#0327588 and longer bolts. Totally doable, the vertical shafts are the same for the years you are using and I used.
