Noticed the other day my bilge is filling with water about 2 gals in as many hrs on the lake with out pumping it out, (I bought the boat early this summer), so I brought it home tilted it up so the bow was way up and found water seeping from the 2 lower gimbal housing bolts and around the bottom edge too I think. Can I pull the outdrive and gimble housing and re seal it?..Im hoping the transome isnt rotted if I do pull it. How big a job is this for a pretty handy mecahnically inclined guy?

If you're still leaking water after trailering it home, I suspect you won't like what you find after pulling the outdrive &/or fully inspecting the transom & bilge. If there is any other areas you can look below deck, you should closely examine there too.... Ski locker, engine compartment, in-deck rod storage, back to back seats that have storage below, under bow seating boxes, etc...

Pix of where the water's leaking out, the bilge & engine bay areas, and where the engine mount/coupler attach on the interior side of the transom, might help too....

I never pulled the plug till after I got it home so I could see just where the water was coming from with the bow way up in my driveway. I noticed its leaking/seeping from the bottom 2 gimble housing bolts and at the edge of the gimgle housing plate on the bottom where it meets the transome.

That only makes it marginally better, if the bilge pump works & expels water overboard, it should be draining the area between the engine & the gimble housing too, as the lowest point in the bilge of the boat.

W/out additional info & pix, I don't think I'd be anymore optimistic then I was in my previous post.
