How do I know it is oiling, besides smoke? The light on the tach was green, but halfway through the day it started running rough and wasn't smoking. Ran it another mile and then added oil to gas. Never confident it is working. I like the idea of precision mix though. Any easy test for intermediate mechanical ability and tools?

mark the oil tank level,
mix oil in fuel
and run it to see how much oil you use with the amount of gas you run through it

Or measure the oil pump output as the service manual tell you to at a certain RPM for a known time.

Make sure the tank and lines are clean and no water in there on a regular basis as Yamaha says too

Thanks. Great stuff. Probably will measure output. Do they make a small oil flow meter that I could pop the cowl and see. That would be the peace of mind I'm looking for. Something permanent.
