my prop on my 125 force has about a 1/8" play in it from front to back.
is this normal?
offhand i am not sure if a prop should have any play in it or not?
its been like this since i had it and just want to make sure this is normal and its not missing a washer or something?

i did check the prop spacer and its sitting in the prop correctly

Re: 88 125 force prop question

1/8 inch of play is about normal especially if it's just the propeller moving and the propeller shaft itself is not moving. Even if the propeller shaft is moving, not sure I would be that concerned. Check the gear oil for glitter or metal flake. If none, then I wouldn't be concerned. If you see some, change it and check again after 8 or so hours of use.

The prop shouldn't move on the shaft. The shaft can have a bit of movement. My twin motors, the stbd.has almost no movement at all,the other it has about 1/8th in.
The prop if it's loose on the shaft might be missing a washer?
Take it off and post a pic of the pieces.
Is it an original Force prop? Aftermarket's don't seem to fit as well.

Re: 88 125 force prop question

thanks for the replies... finally got a chance to get back to this and reviewed my clymer shop manual again.
so far from what i see it is not missing any washers but i did not break it down completely.
What i did was just replace the zinc anode.
so the nut, washer, plastic flare in front of the prop are all there.
the prop spacer and anode in back of the prop are installed correctly, even checked to make sure the prop spacer is seated correctly.
i did not go any farther as all i really needed to do was replace the anode.
