'88" 15HP Evinrude Waterpump???

Hi -<br />new to this forum....Love it!! I just bought a '88" 15HP Evinrude.Changed the Carb kit and now she runs good, but when I put a hose with that thing on the bottom to see if the water pump is flushing water, only a little water comes out. I am guessing that if I put her in the water a lot more water will come out. Do you think that if I run it like this for one hour I will ruin the motor?<br />please help

Welcome to iboats Alex!<br /><br />Are you talking about the "pee" hole under the lower engine pan? Try sticking a wire up there. Might be plugged up. And better yet....if ya' don't know when the impeller was changed out the last time, get to your local Johnny/Rude dealer and get a pump kit. 'Bout $35. You get a new pump housing, impeller and all the stuff needed to give you an up to date pump and piece of mind. And they ain't hard to install.<br /><br />Keep us posted if you have any questions.....thanks.

yup, you were right, took her out for the first time today she worked really good, the little whole was clogged, got a wire and unclogged it, now it's perfect...the only thing tho...I have the engine on a 14' jon boat and I thought it was going to be a lot faster..since the engine is a 15....but it's not bad..<br /><br />thanks
