I am considering the purchase of a 1988 1800tf Tournament Bass Tracker. It has the original 115 Merc in line 6cyl. Bow to stern the boat has everything ! It looks like it could have just come off the showroom floor. Some of the xtras include:
Lowrance lms320 gps/fish finder
3 batteries
onboard battery charger
am/fm cd
full cover
all new gauges
Broker/Seller are asking $4500 obo. Is this a fair price? NADA lists the package at around $2700 base.
I want the boat, but do not want to be taken. Any ideas? Thanks

I just bought an 85 tracker and I paid $3700 for it. It had been completely refinished with all alum. decking and fresh carpet. The Transom is the only wood in the whole boat now...and the PO just replaced it. Came with a completely gone through 75 HP Mercury. Depth Finder, fish finder, trolling motor, two new batteries, new seats, and two gas tanks. It looks like a new boat inside and outside.

In my opinion, a boat is only worth what the new buyer will pay for it. In my case, I was willing to pay what I did for a boat that I thought was just like new. The bottom and sides of the boat were like new. I think they PO had polished it after every use. The stickers on the sides were not scratched up either.

If you like the boat and it runs and starts good and everything works, I say buy it. Offer about $500 less and go from there. Maybe they will meet you half way. Even if you pay a little more for it, it will be what you want.

If you are like me, I looked at a lot of boats that were rode hard and hung up wet....looked like crap. Yea, I could have had one of them cheaper, but I am happy with the decision I made.

Anyway....that is my 2 cents.

I'll go along with Paidfor. IF you have done some homework and really looked around your area you will have a pretty good idea of what things are going for. It's easy to say "I wouldn't pay more than NADA" but if this one particular boat has everything you want, and is in the condition you describe, AND everything works as it should then just buy what you want. Just make a cash offer for a bit less and see what happens. Shorter answer is I don't think it's waaay too much and If you pay what they want and keep the thing for 5 years you'll be a happy man by then.

Where did you find my boat LoL! Just kidding, mine is a 88 1800 FS, I love it! Has the same engine, and everything, they are nice boats, heavy so they do well in the waves, has a great looking hull, mine is in the same condition as that one appears to be, and I wouldn't let it go for less than 4500 on a bad day.

That is a good looking boat. If its what you want and you don't want a project then I'd say go for it.
