I am working on an 88 2.5l Mercruiser, I just finished charging the batteries, and installed them accordingly, after the installation I checked all my connections to make sure they were tight, and then checked the systems, one by one they lit up and worked and then went to start the engine......nothing. I pulled the connector off the harness and checked things out and found the terminals to be corroded a bit so I cleaned them and reinstalled the connector, went back to the helm and tried starting it and nothing. I then checked voltage and connections and about everything I could think of after reading the schematics and for now gave up til I ran this one by you guys to see what it was I missed. I don't really know what I missed, it seems everything is working the way it should up to the starter but it's not engaging when I turn the key ....what am I missing .....what can I test?
