Just rebuilding from results of 2 main bearings cracking and seizing the motor. Never seen this, but am considering removing oil injection and pre-mixing. No problems, just think that it would eliminate many possible hazards. Cant afford another round of this, and dont really see that there is a downfall to this as long as pre-mixed correctly. Any and all thoughts on this would be appreciated. Know it will be inconvenient, but so is trying to flag down someone to tow you to the ramp! Thanks

Why do you think the oil injection caused the failure? Pistons would sieze and disentigrate long before any crank bearings would fail. It lasted how long now? I would think it logical to expect the same from a new set of oil gears. I never have heard of an oil pump wearing out.

The oil pump was not the cause, the cause is undetermined. Upper side of 2 center main bearings just cracked in a half moon shape and seized engine while idleing. Nothing else seems to be hurt but the crank and bearings are ruined. Everything mics out and will reglaze ,rering, re bearing and put back together. Do not know cause except that impacted a stump 2 years ago and boat has been being rebuilt due to transom failure and possibly it occured from that instance? Just have had lots of recommendations from mechanics on removing oil injection because of the number of rebuilds they say they have done due to 80s model oil injection problems and the lack of funds to do this again. Seems like they have no advantage to giving me this info, just wondering what was thought of others on this subject? Thanks
