my buddy bought a boat, last year. was supposedly ready to go (not), we took it out ran great out , went to leave & boat would not start, started checking things , ( the previous ownwer had it serviced & had a new distributor in stalled over the winter ) any how checked all the wireing & everything was loose on new distributor< coil, & so on , next morning it wouldnt start , put a new coil in it , ran great the hole day , to & from , 3rd day back to going out but not coming back on it own , can any one send us in the right direction to start

I think on that model you will find a micro switch on the shift linkage on the left side of the eng.If the switch is bad no start no fire play with the to see.

What kind of disp. was put in it?
If its not a marine one, replace it with one, then get a maunal and follow the trouble shooting steps.
I cant figure why the coil would keep going out unless there is power to it all the time (even key off) and your cooking it. But they usually explode when that is the case.
Im guessing you may have more loose connections and so on.
