Hey all..Picked up the second boat in my sig for parts..I was searching for a donor long block for the 1988..
As I read I get the idea that there were changes over the years..
I am looking to find out if I can mix and match parts between this 75 and 88 in case I can only muster up certain good parts from each motor..

So far I have torn into the 75 ..Looks like it took water in .Exhaust ports on the head had sighns of water damage .
Bottom end was stuck..Have since pulled crank and it is in great shape and so were the bearings ..I am hopefull that I have a usable block here..Hardly and cylinder ridge, maybe just carbon.. Hoping to pop the pistons and hopefully get away with a clean/check, bearing and re ring...
Just unsure of the compatability with the 88 3.0 head??? Not sure but I think I read the manifold port orientaion may be diff as well between the years???
Any help would be greatly appreciated..Still searching the forums..

Ayuh,.... No Problem there....
I'd Seriously consider doin' a .030 overbore, 'n new pistons for a Brand New type motor rebuild....

It may or may not be different...just be aware there are 4 different manifold gaskets (and port configs) available for these engines.

Thanks for the info guys..Really appreciate it..So far the donor bottom end is looking good...
Get it to the machine shop , let them check the piston/cylinder situation ..I am guessing they will sugest an overbore as well..
Cant wait to get a motor together...Just in time to wrap up for the winter ...oh well

Thanks

check your piston to bore clearance
if a .006 feeler gauge barely slip in between it`s great!

you want to know for sure about the head fitment ?

pull it off , and compare . it will cost a gasket set ....
