Hey everyone, anyone know where I can find out the correct size prop. for a 1988 40 hp evinrude tracker vro. I have a 11 3/4 X 17, and the other seems bigger, I'm going to pull the other tonight and see if it's inscribed on the hub.

The correct prop depends on the boat and typical load and activity.
What is the max rpm and speed with the present prop or the 17.Without this info we're pretty much in the dark.Depending on the boat the 17 may be in the ball park.

Thanks, it's on a 18' pontoon, I aquired another lower unit and was just curious of the benefits of the different size prop.

If that 11-3/4 x 17 prop is on a pontoon it is definitely the wrong prop. That is a relatively common prop for a 15-16 foot "V" hull fishing boat. You need about a 13P. With the 17P you are seriously lugging the engine and it will live a short life. The prop you need is one that allows the engine to rev to 5500 - 5800 RPM at wide open throttle with an average load.

My 40 has a 14P prop, 30 has a 13P prop. 17 does seem way out of range unless your in an ultralight setup. Pontoons wouldn't quite fit that description.
