Just wondering if anybody knows if the carbs and air box were the same on '88 and '89 Evinrude XP150 motors? I just bought some for pretty cheap on E-bay from an '88 just to have as a spare set. Figured I'd use them to get more familiar with their operation and re-build them to have as a "spare" set.

Hey there Fargin,
If you go to the ishopmarine web site and look under parts lists you could check to see if the part #'s are the same. Sorry, thats the best help I can give you, but it's a place to start.

As long as you use them as they were produced they'll work just fine. Dont go swapping jets (if they are different) between the 2 sets.

Hey Fargin
Dont have an answer for you on the carb,s but the stator was the problem with my 1996 150 evinrude. I hope you have yours fixed as well and all is running good for you. We had what sounded like the exact same problem. Wish you all the best.

Still fighting with it, I'm sorry to say! Replaced the timer base and now have good, hot spark consistently on the top starboard cylinder. Spark comes and goes intermittently(???) on the cylinder just below this one, and on a couple others even "more" intermittently. Briefly had nice spark on a couple port cylinders, but now back to nothing. I just don't know what gives - I think I'll replace the pack next but who knows?!?! My stator resistance checks out good and I get strong peak voltage output (maybe too strong, but using a Fluke 87 with PVA-1 adapter so not real confident in the magnitude of the 275-320 volt readings!). Glad to hear you got your bugs worked out!! :p
