Use a STARTING battery only.
You can hurt the charging system if you use a deep cycle battery.
Any battery with a cca of 450 or bigger will work.
I have 2 450CCA's
Trolling motors need a deep cycle.
IF?? you run a HUGE radio with amplifiers etc. Then the bigger the better.
I've never killed a battery by using the radio or depth finder when going out.
A 2 battery system is great if you worry about a dead battery.
A switch can allow you to charge both as you run and then switch to a single when setting.
That way you always have a hot battery.
If the weight is what you worry about? then you can use a lawn mower battery along with the regular one.
Use the small one when setting and the large for running/starting.
I test my batteries a lot.
Load tester: 25$ Harbor Freight.
Hygrometer cheap insurance.
You can have a battery with 12v and it's still bad.
A dead/weak cell(hygrometer)
A battery charger can be bad even though it shows it's putting out voltage.
Test it too.
