I have a 1992 Johnson 88 horse power that only runs with the choke pushed in. The motor had not been ran in about 6 months. Before this i never had any trouble with this motor. On the way to the river i added 6 gallons of gas and the oil to the 18 gallon tank to top it off. Launched boat and the motor ran fine for about 1.5 hour of stop and go fishing. The next day started the motor and it ran fine for about 10 min. then just bogged down while running at full throttle. Pushed in on the choke and the motor would run fine as long as i had the choke pushed in. Any help would be appreciated. THANKS

Welcome to iboats
Go to the first post in this forum, you have dirty carbs, I would imagine when you added gas you stirred up some gunk in the tank that got sucked into the carbs, I will bet if you do everything in that post your problem will disapear.

Get an inline filter until you run most of your gas out then clean your tank too.

Don't run the motor till you do this, it is probly not running on all cylinders and you could damage your engine.

classic symptom of clogged hi-speed jets. Calls for a carb rebuild.

I agree with "don't run the motor till you do this" - whichever cylinder is not getting fuel is also not getting lubrication.

But I would encourage you not to burn that remaining fuel in your outboard.

agree with all the above, as to fuel, install a fuel/water separator filter.

Inspect the rubber connector between the tank and fill opening. I had one dry rot and the gas nozzle would scrape shavings into the tank on every fill up. look for black bits in the bottom of the tank
