i have a 88 johnson 120 and it starts and idles great but i cannot get full throttle it kinda boggs out. for a split secend it with rev up all the way but it runs like crap keeps bogging but will not die at all runs strong..it has new sparkplugs rebuilt carbs fuel filter and pump clean gas that i know of and headgaskets.sombody told me coils and wires /some say its a link and sync problem with gas / air mixture. i dont know not really getting a good answer. what could cause this problem? and how do u link and sync the carb?

It sounds as though you are stuck in Quikstart which advances the timing when you start the engine. Watch the timer base to see if the timing is relaxing after you reach 96 degrees F. or 1,100 RPM. If not you need to check the powerpack wiring and the powerpack.

i have a manual, sorry i lack experience with boat motors. i dont have a temp gauge or rpm gauge. not hooked up thats a new project....is there a plan b i might be able to figure this out?and wud it be coils?
