Hi guys. question concerning fuel/starting. The 88 mariner 100 hp i have will start if i spray ether in the air intake area but not when I just pump up the primer ball and try to start it using the choke and fast idle lever. Any ideas as to what i should check first and does anyone know of the best manual I can buy about this motor?

motor probably has been sitting and the carb needles are gummy and/or jets are clogged

Keep squritin' (starting fluid) ether in it and ya won't need ta worry 'bout it much longer. Use a 50 ta 1 fuel/oil mixture. Ether completely "dries out" everything and will cause an almost instant rust if left alone after tha fact with 2 strokes...........fyi.

not to mention without the oil in the fuel, the bearings will be toast and cylinders scuffed. NEVER start a 2-cycle on ether. always use oil/gas mix in a spray bottle or old ketchup bottle.

Check into whether the choke or enricher system is working or not.
