Can anyone tell me how the tilt ram "pin" is removed? It has a slot for a very large screwdriver head on the port side.
This is the pin that connects the tilt ram to the engine. About 1/2 in (guessing) diameter. Only photo on hand is of the starboard side:( Can get the port side photo if needed. Thxs in advance.

soak it with liquid wrench frst might be a little tough from corrosion ,might take a while be careful and have paitence also might support weight of motor off of the ram that way it should make it a little easier. good luck

Wow that was a quick reply. Let me try asking the question a different way. Does it screw in and out or is the pin driven/pressed into the frame and cylinder eye. Sorry for the poor wording previously.

Tilt your engine up & lock it. Then slightly trim down to relieve the pressure. That pin holds the weight of the engine. Remove the cerclip and drive the pin out. Should be able to use a large bolt with a hammer - if it's not coming out easy look at flatheads reply. When the pin is out - trim down and you can remove the trim/tilt motor.
Good luck.

Outstanding...this is what I am looking for. Remove clips and drive it out. Wonder if it matter which direction it is driven? My first thought is to hit the pin on the solid end, driving toward the port side. Hopefully will not need to soak but thank you Flathead, and Bally!

Cylinder pin is easy, large punch and 3 pound sledge will do it.The small cross pin in the middle was a real BI*&>? to get off.If its still on boat dont forget to support weight of motor or .....splat.Good Luck.

Like Aussieflash posted,it has a pin in the middle of tilt cylinder that must be removed with punch and hammer, then it will just slide out as it has no clips. Make sure the motor is on half tilt lock..
