Hello everyone,
I'm new to this site, but I've been enjoying reading the posts, and especially the fantastic advice given by the professionals. I'm pretty mechanical, and have tinkered with all sorts of motors since I was a kid. I surely hope you guys can help me, 'cause I'm stumped.

My problem: my motor will not idle...it starts and runs OK at the highest idle until it warms up...then I have to be really fast in shifting into gear, or it spits and dies. I have to get the boat pointed in the right direction, then start it and shift into forward quickly. Then, it runs great from 1/4 to full throttle, but when I throttle back to approach a pier, dock, or trailer, it starts spitting....and finally quits.

I've installed new gas, a new gas line with primer bulb, new plugs, cleaned the carb....no difference. Last year, I even put it in the shop and the mechanic did a rebuild on the carb. It improved for a while, but the spitting was always there. Now, about a year after the rebuild, it's spitting really bad once again.

I've owned Johnsons, Evinrudes, Mercs, and even an old Wizard, and I've never had a motor do this. HELP!
Thanks for any advice you can offer.
