Hey there..I've been looking at this forum trying to figure out if my engine already has electronic ignition and if not, what kit I should use to change it.

Thanks for the input.

That year has points. If someone owned it before you, they may have changed them to electronic.

Just have to take off the distributor cap and take a look to see what you have!

If you have points, get yourself a Pertronix kit. It is a must.

The petronics kits will work with many ignition systems. If it runs fine with points no need to change it.On the Cobra you have to modify the shift interrupt also..

Why not just keep the points? They really are not that big of a deal to set and are probably more reliable in the long run.

I agree, "if it ain't broke..."

Besides, there's someone around here who has a procedure for changing points out in minutes in five foot seas...

The secret to not having to change them in 5 foot seas is to put a new set in at the beginning of the season and you won't have to worry about doing them again until next year ;)

I highly recommend the Pertronix CDI ignition.
It's a direct replacement for the points/condenser.
It only takes a few minutes to drop in.
What a difference!
