I hope someone can help me with my 150. I noticed recently that I am leaking oil from my tank on the side of the motor from under the cap. i have checked it and enen tried to strap it down but it still leaks. It is also smoking really bad at idle and no wake speeds. But at top speed, no smoking at all, but when I slow down it starts smoking again. Are these problems related and is it an easy fix? I'm not a marine mechanic but am always ready to learn.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Bryan

I also forgot to mention that when I idle the motor seems to bog down. Then when I try to take off it takes a second or two before it goes and burns off the excess fuel and oil mix? Does this sound right?
Thanks
B

Re: 88 Pro V 150 smoking and leaking oil

Whitebass,
sounds like the main tank(the one in the boat ) is not shutting off and over filling the small tank on the motor.I had the same problem on my 85 115.It ended up being the controll unit, and I was to cheap to replace it so I disconnected the oil injection and switched to premix. My motor had the same symptoms as yours. The problem is that the over flow from the motor oil tank is fed into one of the carbs(at least on mine) and with all that extra oil it runs like poop. :D Now whats the fix you ask after all that rambling?I dont know for sure but go to this site and read it.It will explain how the oiling system works and how to trouble shoot it.By the way, welcome to Iboats.

http://www.bassandwalleyeboats.com/output.cfm?id=942859

Just follow the instructions for trouble shooting and you will not have a problem.
