88 Stratos Trail boat trailer

I am 70 Years young and very confused. I have 1988 Bass Boat and Stratos Trail boat trailer. I am wanting to repaint the Dark blue trailer. On the internet I cannot find what kind of paint they used in 88. NOT color, just KIND of paint. The paint has held up pretty well over the years so I am wanting to paint it with something just as tough. Does any one know what kind of paint was used or something of equal quality I can paint this trailer with?
All ideas are welcome!

I think it was the material- to-be painted condition, the prep and painting conditions, and the entire process that led to your observed success - more than than the kind of paint. Fortunately, chemicals are often (not always) better now than those used in 1988

Alkyd enamel most likely then, and what you could use now

it was most likely alkyd enamel with hardener, then baked at 140 for about 30 minutes
