Hello,
I am refurbishing a 1987 Searay with a 88150A7 shifter. I removed this Shifter about three years ago not having done it before and basically dismantled it completely. I am just finishing upholstery and I purchased another Remote throttle that was not in a hundred pieces. This new control came off an Alpha 1 Gen 1 but I’m having problems getting it to go into reverse. I have replaced the rear shifter cable and have it adjusted at 6”. If I shift unit manually with out the remote shifter it goes in and out of gear fine. This remote shifters travel is 2 3/8” and what I’ve read I need 3” of travel on the remote shifter cable . My question- Do I have an incorrect remote shifter or is there a way to adjust the travel?

I purchased this used Quick silver control and would like to increase the shifter cable travel. Presently it travels 2 3/8” like to get 3”. Can anyone advise me how to increase my travel?

That looks like a universal remote control. You might make sure as Alldodge says, that the cables are correctly attached. Perhaps the OEM has a data sheet on it.

To move the cable to the outside hole, do I need to redesign the cable clamp?
What I would try first is remove the left side cable nut and keeper. Move cable up to left arm not being used and use keeper and nut above. Even if it only fits in the same spot as one on right and see if that gives you 3 inch
