I just went to my boat at the marina and was getting ready to head out. Started the engine and it started fine as always. Ten seconds later it died and when I tried to start up again it seemed flooded. So I waited a few minutes and tried again. At that point I noticed fuel POURING out of the overflow tube in the carb horn and I stopped trying. Waited a few more minutes, tried again with the same results. It's only been two years since my last rebuild but I don't know what all was done at that time. I plan to rebuild it myself this time for the first time and wondered if anyone recognized this problem and also if anyone had advice about the rebuild itself? It's a Rochester 2GC with a tag number of 1376-5659A1. 1975 Merc 888.
Thanks! Jeff

Re: 888 rochester carb problems

Sounds like the float is stuck or water(fuel)logged, either that or there is some crap in the float needle and seat. Take the top off and check it out.
