89 225 Evinrude Fuel problem

I have a 89 225 Evinrude .The problem that I have is that I could have the motor running for 20minuts idles great I turn it off.I try to turn it back on and it will not turn on I have to choke it to be able to turn it on.What should I check?Could it be a bad primer pump.

Your motor does not have a choke but rather a primer which injects fuel into the intake. When you push the key in it opens the primer and fuel shoots into the manifold. If the primer wasn't working it probably wouldn't start when cold.

There are several reasons why the motor may not start without priming when warm. It may be turning over a little slow, may have worn or incorrect plugs, carbs may be slightly dirty or not set up right, old fuel and so on.

Your right its at the key switch.Sorry i didnt say also when cold i have to choke it as well.How do i check the key primer ?I have already changed spark plugs correct ones.Im in the process of cleaning the carb.Gas is the same one since last summer I should use new fuel.
