89 25HP MERC WITH REMOTE CONTROL WIRES I ACCIDENTIALLY CUT

I HAVE AN 89 25 HP MERC THAT IS OFF A PONTOON I AM REDECKING. IN MY MOMENT OT STUPIDITY I CUT WIRES FROM THE CONSOLE NOT MARKING WHAT THEY WERE FOR OR WIRED TO. THE WHOLE TOP OF THE PONTOON WAS IN A BAD STAGE OF ROT. THERE IS A QUICK DISCONNECT IN THE MOTER HOUSING WITH AN 8 PIN SET. I HAVE SEEN A WIRING SCHEMATIC THAT SHOWS THIS HARNESS CONNECTED TO A KEY SWITCH BUT DOES NOT LABEL WHAT THE WIRES ARE FOR . IS THIS RIGHT, CAN I JUST GET A NEW KEY SWITCH, DOES THE KEY SWITCH HAVE A CHOKE CONTROL ON IT? THE SHIFTER CONTROLS ON THIS BOAT ARE MORSE AND WERE NOT WIRED WITH ANY TYPE OF ELECTRICAL WIRING. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP !!!!!

Hey Troy,<br /><br />Would it not be possible to re-splice the wires to their original origin? Why would you need a new ignition switch? Yes, it will have a choke/primer function built in to the switch. It is a push to choke feature. I assume that the original switch was mounted to the console or such? How many wires did you cut out? Was it just the ones from the switch? A little more info and maybe we can get you going...

Rick thanks for the reply, I cut the wires at the console and threw out the switch along with everything else on the console because it was so rotted and destroyed. i bought a manual that covers several years of merc motors including this one, it does have a wire diagram of this particular remote wiring harness, it seams all the wires lead to the switch. is this true? The wiring is still intact from the motor to the pin connection for about ten feet. I do not know what i was thinking when I cut them and threw out the switch without mapping and marking the wires. All the wires that were cut all come together covered in rubber from the motor. Battery cables are ok. I am looking for a alternate wiring diagram to make sure I can identify what each of these wires areand where they connect. I will be getting a new switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks Troy
