Hy Ya All, now I've got my Johnson sorted I've been left with an annoying problem. Engine starts and ticks over beautiful and comes out of the hole a bit rapid, but the tickover seems a bit on the slow side and when I try to select forward or reverse it cuts before I can get the power down, particulaly in reverse, this makes life very interesting when trying to get the boat on the trailer at the end of the day. Can I turn up the tickover without disturbing the timing?

If the engine is idleing rough, address that problem first. If the engine is idleing smooth, but just to slow, You can adjust the idle stop screw. When you have the hood off, have someone work the throttle lever while you watch the linkage on the engine. When drawn back to slow speed, you will see where the linkage contacts the stop screw, that is what you adjust.

Thank you for this my friend, engine will tickover all day as nice as you like, with only missing a beat now and then, it's when I try to put it in gear it stalls.<br />Cheers.
