Hello everyone! I have an 89 evinrude 30hp that we've been running lately, 3-5 gallons of fuel per trip, and there is an oil based slime that is covering the engine, top half more than bottom half, and puddling in the under cowling! Real thick, black/maybe barely a bit of grey oily build up starting to cost the engine, not a dry type oil/gunk but a real slimey oil. Possible gasket leaking? To rich of mixture? I haven't dug in to it very deep yet because I just saw it yesterday, but is there any obvious places to check first? Looks like if it is a gasket it's possibly coming from under the flywheel or somewhere else in the top half of the engine, because the oil is starting to puddle just below the flywheel on the power head. Thanks a lot for any possibilities! By the way, engine runs great, idles great with neutral lever up, but the engine is always wanting me to pump the bulb when I let it sit for we'll say 20 minutes!!! The fuel in the bulb has been draining out! Thanks again!!!
