i am trying to get the clutch dog out of lower unit so i can remove and install new forward and pinion gear does anyone have any idea how to get it out. i have the pinion gear out already, but it seems like the shift linkage is holding it from coming on out. how do i get it out to be able to remove the shaft to replace the forward gears. help!!!!!!!

Just looking at the diagram it does look as though the shifter mechanism may have to be removed through the top of the unit in order to release the shifter shaft that sits in the end of the propshaft.

Thats what I'd go for anyway.

ok i give what is the secret to getting the shift shaft out to be able to pull rest of gears out of lower unit
