89 Evinrude Amplifier Box?

I have a great mechanic for my boat, and he says I need a new amplifier box on my 89 evinrude 140. Is that the same as the power pack? I look on-line at the parts stores, and see nothing called an amplifier box.

Perhaps two names for the same part?

nope, the old amplifier system was used on the inline 3cyl and a few V4's back in the late 60's to about 1973, then it was a ppk system then yours is just a CDI,commonly called a a power pack in the OMC line.

OK, thanks for the clarification. He is probably using the old term. So, I found a power pack for my 1989 Evinrude Looper 140HP in Ebay. It looks pretty easy to install - any tips on this? Is it just bolt on and plug in the appropriate wires/
