Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

Good morning Budd,
Nothing really to report on the cruiser. I still need to solder the connections on my current rgb strip, seems that some of the clips are giving me issue, the back rail for instance I have 2 pieces, and the port side flickers sometimes blue seems to be the only color that doesn't show,,,,, as much , still makes my eye twitch.

I figure on pulling a mustang on my back 3 rails once I take the shrink wrap off in the spring. And I got another section of the rgb's just waiting on placement in the cabin, or if you get a successful underwater install I will cut them up and follow suit!

Other than that ,jb curt would be proud, I have several projects going, a 14'fiberglass boat project "free" that needs some glassing done. I've spent some hours grinding the po's repairs, that didnt stick, to prep it for proper fix .
And forward looking I would love to acquire a stand up ski project, to throw on the stern of the cruiser to make our raftups more interesting, but that has been sidelined by a 3 seater jetski project that just needs painted and a reverse cable to be ready for fun.
i figure with a little headway ill start threads on both projects.

on a side note once I brought the ski home I realized I have a boatyard!!
The admiral did anyway, she said how many are there now, so lets count em down,, a cruiser, a go fast, a runabout, 2 rowboats 2 canoes and a ski in a pear tree,,,, Bahaha!!
in my defense, the go fast a canoe and a rowboat is not mine, lol
although you should eventually see the go fast interior replacement being done, (as soon as the owner has $ to buy the materials. Just spent the cash on the rip n strip and rebuild on the floors and the stringers.) then it will be ready for engine install.

i need a pole barn and a wood burner, it's cold out there now,lol
merry Christmas to all

Merry Christmas & have a happy New Year, may your money tree bare a bountiful harvest

Jb, I got lots of room left, lol. Guess I need more daylight, lol
since the cruiser went to bed for the winter earlier than I wanted it to

i have a trailer coming for the twain soon, that's where the Craigslist free boat n trailer started. Judging by the pic I thought it was a big enough trailer,

but once I got there I found this

and decided I could use it for the wanted stand up jet ski project, so I took her home and cleaned her up,,, more pics coming soon

The po had decks built all over the 14' sears fiberglass boat, there is a mush spot in the middle of the hull in the bottom of the inside of the back of it, in which he tried to fix with heavy Fiberglass, matting, problem is that the glass wasnt cured and still soft.
After removing all the gadgets and both decks I started grinding all the carpet glue so once I grinned past that I found the edge of the patch
47CBB071-E159-46E7-9A83-B2B26509AB5D-190-0000001352D0EABF.jpg

still squishy I ended up removing the patch which started at the back bench across the floor up the transom and back down the transom ending up overlapping the bottom running surface, once removed I got this from the stern
B9327967-B941-44AD-92F3-CF81A6423E60-190-000000134FFBAC84.jpg

stern doesn't look too bad, and the wood is solid.

the bottom back of the floor has a small 1'x1' squishy spot. My plan was to cut out about 6 inches beyond the soft and pop it out, then I can see what I can do with it. As far as I can tell the boat has a solid keel and the inner and outer, plastic or glass has around 3 " of foam in between and that's when I got sidetracked by the ski-couch, lol

the plan was to make it a center console Lil fishen boat! Engine capacity on the boat 25hp
more updates tomorrow

Merry xmas

See I knew he was up to no good. Just bring the slacker speech to the forfront and things happen, lol I have an eye on another 25 ft Chris Craft one year older than mine for 2 grand. Its in Maryland, close to where I bought mine. Can't even afford to finish mine, and I'm looking at another one,lol Anyway, Merry Christmas to you and the family. Cheers :)

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

Budd, you are correct! Bahaha lol.
I'm in the same boat as you, really that's where this all started, free boat and trailer, I gotta be able to make a couple hundred right! Lol I never take my labor into consideration. A quick flip, and I can get my stand up ski project I wanted, lol. Them the ski popped up, 94 wra 700 jet ski, 3 person, my mind said it can be for the wife, and ill try and ski behind it. Runs great has all the paperwork, but needs a reverse cable and a crack repaired on the port side and painted, po painted it black n yellow, and the bottom of the hull is scraped from beaching, and the paint in the footwells is flaking off, and the rubrail's paint is also flaking
you can see the attempt at a fix, with white bubblegum stuff, kinda like half cured 5200

first thing I did was run it, dec 17 we got to the ramp at dusk, and even though I shouldn't have, I couldn't resist, in the video it looks pitch black, it really wasn't ,,, that dark ! lights from the industrial park let me see camera didn't pick it up though

she ran great! The air was warm that day, the water, not so much.
then I began to sand and scrape at the rubrail, the purple doesn't look that bad
83F3E79D-8045-4460-BDEC-9A4A11B7EDC3-190-00000016797866B5.jpg

and here is a shot of the paint in the footwells

That's about where I'm at with the ski.

Budd, I told Jb about a wellcraft by me that I'm betting the owner would let go cheap, it's kinda set up like yours, center console cuddy, only difference it has twin drives sticking out the stern, and are black, one of which is there it's uncovered and has been for the year it's sat by the scrap mans house with the for sale sign on it. I never did stop and look at it so not real sure of the particulars, I do know that I got an 18' tri hull and 100hp merc n trailer off him a few years ago for $50, sold for $200 with little work, ripped seats n carpet out.

happy holidays to all of my extended family,
missed you guys

Also listed my 17' mitchcraft canoe with lots of goodies.

yep lots, I love the outriggers you can stand up with no worries! The foot controlled motor puts it over the top.
i got lots of hits but even a fire sale went unlooked at, so I sweetened the pot

I used the rig many times without the trolling motor anyways, it handled the barge and boat waves nicely.
i think it's too much for today's market so next ad will be without the outboard.
all for now

update: canoe and outboard all sold within the last week, so the admiral is smilling again:laugh:.
I'm still looking for the stand up ski project. It seems that the one i had my eye on is having trouble finding the title.

happy new year to all!
