I have an 89 Force on this 92 Bayliner Capri that I bought and I cant get the trim to work. When I bought the boat the guy that sold it told me just put a new trip pump on it because the old one went out. It was installed on boat but power wires werent, so I hooked up the two power wires and the 1 ground and now the trim motor runs, but wont trim the motor up. It will push the ram out like maybe an inch or so then just locks up. So trim pump is running, and it does move the motor just a tad, but thats it?? Any idea on what I need to do?

if it makes a clunking grinding noise when it spins then armature is not seated. have to take motor off and reinstall.

If the is no clunking grinding noise and it does lift but slowly drifts back down as soon as the motor stops spinning then you probably need a valve body rebuild.

If the motor just can't pump fluid faster than it is leaking past internal seals then my guess would be (based on year stated) that you need a piston for the tilt ram.
