I am in need of a new prop for my 89 force 150. After trying to find the prop size of the current prop I am not able to locate any numbers on the prop except DIA 12 5/8 X 2id. I am not able to locate the pitch of the current prop. Would anyone happen to know what the orginal prop size and pitch is for my 89 Force.

Thanks in advance ;)

Re: 89 Force 150 prop size

The pitch should be stamped on the side of the prop between the blades, My 89 Force 150 has a 21 pitch prop but from what I understand depending on the size/weight of your boat as well as horse power and what you do with your boat will determie what pitch prop you want. Its not as simple as what prop do i need or a 150 Force. I'm thinking of trying a 23 pitch prop for more top speed.

Re: 89 Force 150 prop size

Well I have an 89 Astroglass 18' bass boat. I cannot read the pitch number on the prop. The prop has a chunk taken out of one of the blades on the prop and just want to get a general Idea of what to buy to replace the current prop.

Thanks

Re: 89 Force 150 prop size

Cid, we will try to help you as much as we can, but there is certain information that is needed in order to help you. The following form has all of the information that is needed to help you with your problems finding the right prop. If you do not know all of the information that is asked for on the form please give us the most information you have available, and especially all the information that is in RED as I have a program I designed to find the right prop for any planning hull boat that needs this information. It requires time to find all this information when we have to look for it and in my defense I expect you to be willing to expend as much effort in finding the right prop as I do. We hope to be able to help you get the exact prop you need for your particular uses, and this information is required to do that.

Wow, that form looks like a monster to fill out! After you figure his out I might try to see if you can tell me if I can go up to a 23 pitch or not.

90% of the form is just to make sure the weight of the boat is right.

Re: 89 Force 150 prop size

CID: I will make it simple for you.

Although Force engines are not known to be strong runners, bass boats are designed to wring all the performance out of any engine mounted on them

I would be willing to bet that your existing prop is an aftermarket prop and that prop is 12 5/8 X 21 pitch. NOW: you can try replacing with an equivalent 21 pitch prop, but if you are only able to find the 13 3/8 diameter props, the 21 might be too much pitch and you may need to drop down to 19.

As usual, tachometer readings take precedence and you want to keep the RPM up near the top of the wide open throttle range as stated on the id plate. ---usually 5500 RPM.
