Hello
I am getting ready to tackle the impeller on this motor...after reading the instructions for the 3 and 4 cylinder motors posted above these questions remain....I was wondering?

1. Are there any hidden bolts (other than the 4 showing) that are attaching the Lower Unit to the upper?

2. How do I identify my type of shift linkage?

3. Are there any marks or notations that I need to make on the motor before disassembly,....to ease re-assembly?

4. Any other tricks/tips that may be recommended?

Thanks

I have 1990 FORCE 90. When I was changing my impeller I pretty much followed instructions in this thread http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=231685. There is one hidden bolt in the exhaust, you need to remove the trim fin to get to it. Other than that just be careful pulling the lower unit out it can be heavy, hopefully someone can help you. Also, do not over tighten any bolts.

Also, I forgot to mention. When reassembling we found it easier to insert the drive shaft in first, then align the gear shift, shaft, and water tube. You will definitely need another person helping you hold the lower unit while you are putting all back. Remove the spark plugs so that you can rotate the flywheel to align the shaft.
