I am kind of new to outboards and have a quick question.Looking at 89 johnson 110 on 17 ft skeeter.Boat has been stored 2yrs.Checked everything out and put ear muffs on and tried to get it started.turned over strong but would not fire at first.Took cover off to check usual things let it sit awhile then tried again with cover off and saw when i choked it while cranking, gas was coming out of small module(sorry not sure what part name is)on front right top side almost over carbouraters, has small red plastic adjuster tab on threaded post. The motor did finally start but need to fix or replace part that is blowing gas.Sorry for amatuer wording, but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,John

that is the primer solenoid, 2 wire and a screw to change. it replaced the choke butterflies, in the carb, pushing in on the key activates it, and it squirts gas into the intake manifold, for cold starting. the proper running postion of the red handle, is center back over the body of the solenoid, as in picture. part #
Part Number: 0397909 roughly $160.00 or find one on ebay.
Description: KIT AY,PRMR SOL
Equivalent Parts: 0434326,0437233,5007356

You can replace the cover, (4 screws) your local Evinrude dealer should have the cover, and handle in stock, these parts can split, and cause a fuel leak.
0511807 primer solenoid cover $13.25
0511812 manual valve $4.83

I had a similar thing happen on my 88 110 Johnson.
The choke solenoid has 1 fuel inlet hose and 2 small outlet hoses, one for each of the carbs. One of my hoses had come off, 2 minute fix for me, maybe you will be lucky too??
