been having fuel probs or what i thought were fuel probs. engine will idle but no power and bogs, couldn't get over 3000 rpm. checked all fuel connections, changed inline filter as well as water separater. pulled carbs off and cleaned them. changed spark plugs and idled with ear muffs, then discovered no spark to 2,4,6 cylinders. when engine idling did not make a difference when plug wires were pulled off 2,4,6. how can i check the coil or what else can i do. i'm thinking quite possibly that this problem isn't fuel related

Disconnect the shift interrupt switch.
If spark returns you found it.

If not, its probably the power pack,
its very unlikely that 3 coils go south on the same side at the same time eh?

Its got nothing to do with fuel unless you store sparks in the gas tank.!

If you have 2 power packs try switching them (disconnect battery first).
Be carefull with the battery polarity when reconnecting.!

also this motor was rebuilt 2yrs ago, as the the water pump quit and cooked the motor. never checked coils so maybe they are heat damaged, the thermostats were destroyed, and replaced when rebuilt, most wires were partially melted but checked out okay at boat dealer as most melting was on exterior jacket. is there a way to test coils so i can eliminate replacing coils and brains
