89 Johnson 40 hp, VRO removal questions

I finished my carb rebuilds and installed a new water pump.

So I prepared to dive into my VRO removal and install a new fuel pump. I ran into a few gliches in my thought process, so a few questions are in order.

1. I located the 3 bolt holes to mount to fuel pump. Can you tell me what the bolt sizes are, so that I can tap them as they have paint in them.

2. What do I do with the other fuel lines that are coming off the VRO fuel pump?

a. two fuel lines come off the fuel fitting from the VRO, one goes to the carb and the other goes to the solenoid with the red lever. Two smaller lines come off the solenoid and go back to the carbs.

I assume the the fuel fitting that has all these hoses will be rerouted to the new fuel pump?

3. Do I plug the oil line from the VRO to the fitting that goes into the powerhead?

I think I have all this figured out, but I just want to be sure I am not missing anything before I attempt to start this motor.

Thanks a million everyone,

If the pump is still working O.K. on the fuel side then disconnect and plug the oil side and run premix. Disconnect the alarm wire as well.

Re: 89 Johnson 40 hp, VRO removal questions

Ken,

Thanks for the info. However, it don't think it will help my situation.

I already know that the VRO fuel/oil pump is being taken out of the system. I have the new Pre-VRO fuel pump ready for install.

I just need to clarify a few questions about the excess wiring and fuel lines.

I will remove the VRO system completely to include the wires.

If anyone can provide clarification to my previous question it will be greatly appreciated.
