89 johnson vro 110 alarm sounding

My jhonson's warning alarm starts going off if I set still idling for a few min or if I move to slow coming in and out from the dock and it's repeatedly back to back if I cut it off and restart and take right off it doesn't happen what's my issue?

Steady alarm from the control box is overheat. At low speed, cooling depends on thermostats and bypass holes in the thermostat spacer plate. Can also be a weak impeller on the water pump. Have you run through silty/sandy areas recently? When was the impeller last changed? At higher speeds he thermostats are bypassed by spring-loaded poppet valves which will drop the temperatures.

Is your VRO hooked up ? If it is which alarm is it.

1 beep every second is no oil flow
1 beep every 20-30 seconds is low oil
Steady tone is overheating.

Thanks for the replies, the motor has not been ran through silt or sand as for the impeller I'm not sure I purchased a 89 glasstream bass boat with the one ten on it about five months ago and it had not been ran in a year or two and rarely got used before that he was the original owner so it may have never been changed

The vro is hooked up shortly after buying the boat I removed the tank and cleaned it and the screen on top of the tank and refilled with fresh oil the oil level doesn't seem to be dropping as fast as before though

Before you do anything add some tcw3 oil to your tank to give you a 50:1 ratio.

Next disconnect the oil line from the VRO & pump the primer until you get clear oil out with no bubbles.
Then reconnect the oil line to the VRO and give the oil primer bulb a couple more pumps.

Start the motor and wait until the beeping stops, continue using and confirm proper oil usage compared to the fuel used.
