I know this has been asked 100 times but I cant find anything in the search section.

I had a great boating weekend. Got to go both days. And it was a nice change of pace a friend of mine just got his boating license and hes getting his boat prepped this week to go out. Hes never operated a boat so he wanted pointers.

Any way I never get to have some one else drive so while he was driving I was sitting in the back just enjoying the beauty of the wake and I noticed a little bit of white steam coming up behind the motor. It was so light I couldnt tell if it where steam or just normal 2 stroke smoke.

There were no over heat alarms but I touched the leg about a foot below the exhaust ports and it was pretty hot. I could keep my hand on it for a good bit and it wouldnt burn me but I thought it was pretty hot. Hotter then I recal it being the last time I checked it but that was just on the hose in the yard. Is this normal?

Engine started fine, didnt sound like it was hot at all on each start. Whats normal for the leg? Im getting good tell-tale flow and a nice sputter of water from the ports.

The exhaust housing will get a little warm, especially on plane. When you slow down and the housing submerges it will cool right off.

It'll get pretty hot on muffs too, next time you flush the motor, lay your hand on it.. It's the exhaust..

I'd be more concerned about the powerhead temps at each head. If you measure the temps with a laser gun, they should be between 143 and 150 at idle. Less when you are on plane.
