'89 OMC Cobra 5.7L Timing

Can anybody share as to what timing advance their cobras set up at?

Does 8 DEG BTDC sound right? It's a GM V8 block

Just want to make sure I am up to date on this.

8 should do it with 89 octane.

I am using with 87 octane, is that too much of an advance?

The '88 book says 3 BTDC on 87 octane.
