'89 OMC Cobra Gearset

Really all I need is the clutch dog and forward gear. Are these sold individually or together as a set. Last thing I have heard is that the forward gear, reverse gear, clutch dog, and pinion gear are sold together. Also, without labor what has been your expereinces on costs. Thanks in advance!!

OMC/Bomb sell the gears in a kit all of them. aftermarket- some sell fwd, pinion sepertly. no mater fwd and pinion are matched and must be shimed. dogs and reverse are sold seperatly most cases anyway. can cost $$ but this is not a cheap hobby. there are many ways to replace gears right and wrong. if it was me with adverage mechanical skills, I would buy the gears GLM or Sierra take my pinion shaft and bearing support and have a dealer with special tools shim them. OMC only shims the pinion gear. then take them home and re-assemble and re-seal with the use of a service manual. this will work but if done wrong can cost big trying to save a little. man 3:20 time to go home and fix boats bye/bye bob.......
