Stinkbug,

Probably best to do some searches as there are heaps of these type of questions answered. When you have tried some things post again with your progress.

Go to FAQ forum. Start with the basics. Get a spark tester and check spark on all cylinders. Check compression. If you have good spark remove the airbox and squirt premix into the carb throats and see if it picks up. If it does you have fuel issues and probably need to rebuild the carbs. This is not unexpected in an engine that has been sitting for a year and a half.

Thanks and yes the FAQ was very helpful.
Ordered Servive manual two weeks ago.
Changing plugs, ASAP.
Check compression, ASAP
Permix in the carb. is something I didn't think about.

I ran the motor for about 20-30 minutes on the lake a few days ago. After doing that,I read in the forums that was probly not a smart thing to do. Have I now caused cylinder damage.

Hopefully no damage. One of the advantages on Suzuki oil injection is that oil is injected into the reed block not the carburetor so in a lean carb situation the engine still gets oil.

Sounds similar to the problem I had with the exact engine. It would idle all day, but would sputter and die when rev'ed under load. Turned out to be the crankcase seal between cylinders. Too expensive to repair ~$1k for new crank assembly as compared to the value of the engine. I heard that this is a common problem with this model.

ALM,

Did the crack show up on compression testing? How did you find it?

Ian:

No, the compression in all three cylinders were in a few % of each other. The problem only showed up under load which at first looked like a fuel problem.

To be honest, I was stumped and took it to my mechanic who was also stumped, he ended up calling a Suzuki tech support line. This is where the common problem comment came from.

ALM: What did you do with the motor?

-by the way, my work takes me to the NJ area (Parsippany). I may have misspelled that.
