8hp Evinrude mixture ratio?

I just purchased a very slightly used 1988 8hp Evinrude that is in nearly unused condition. Anyway, is it really true that it uses a 100/1 oil gas mixture? Where the fuel line attaches, it has a sticker that says "100/1". I've never heard of such a low oil mixture.

Ignore anything that say 100:1

50:1 is better for yours. Some motors that were "supposedly" designed to run on 100:1 were recalled and cutomers had free rebuilds by the dealors. My 1986 25hp is one of the lucky ones that got recalled, but that was long before I acquired it.

Yes it should be run on 50:1

remove the sticker ... it should have been removed years ago (about 1989!) and also alter the owners manual.
