Hi All;

I'm back at it again, sold my two big Zodiacs (both had Mariners, one by Yamaha and one by Mercury) both excellent engines by the way.... anyway

I bought an older 24 ft sailboat and she has an 8 hp Mariner hung on the stern, its a Model 8M ser # 677-377768 and this website says its a 1984 http://www.marinshopen.se/

Anyway i'll try to keep this long story short
There are two black electrical wires hanging out of the front of the engine and with the engine running these will light up a test light and it gets brighter as you increase the engine speed....

Now the long awaited question......will this power help to charge my battery and if so how do i wire it up, would i need a diode in there somewhere and how do i tell the positive from the negative, both wires are black...

Thanks all regards;
Dave
