8hp mercury 2 stroke prop

Hey guys,<br />The motor is pushing an inflatable and it really struggles to get on plane when loaded with two people. It has a 48-828156-9 prop. My thoughts are to reduce pitch a knotch or two? Anyone know what Pitch/Diameter this part number is? any thoughts on which part number I should go to?

If you go to Mercury Parts Express, it should be able to tell you the props available for your motor (and also what your prop is). Based on the part number, I'd guess it's a 9" pitch. If you don't have a tach, be careful going down to far in pitch. A 6" pitch might help you plane with two people, but you could also be doing 7000 rpms.
