I believe i should replace water pump and gaskets after thirty one years. Do not believe they have ever been replaced. I do know they have not been in the last 10-12 years. Dealer could only obtain the water pump (no gaskets). (No shaft seals)<br />Can i instal new water pump using form a gasket? What about the top shaft seal. Any ideas. I was told to drop a few drops of brake fluid on it and let it go. Good or bad idea. Do I drop the lower unit in forward gear or reverse. I do not have a manual and unable to obtain one (No Library in this remote area with one) Info We do not even have a caution or traffic light in the entire county. As you can see I am remote.<br />I have never de-carbon the motor only replace a spring and fuel pump. Still runs good but not quite as good as it use to. I am getting a little water, not much in the lower unit. the oil becomes light brown. I have been just replacing the oil ever third trip or so. I am sure i can remove lower unit with no difficulty unless bolts or stuck then I will just have to wait and see.<br />Any info or suggestions will be kindly appreciated from the old WV fisherman.[ ajohnston@gva.net] If someone has a repair manuel that they could scan and send to me would also be appreciated.
