As I sit here getting ready for my day........

I wanted to take a moment myself to remember 9/11 and 5 fallen classmates that were lost that day.....:(

MikDee helped build those buildings and I can only image your feelings today.

Please....Nothing about politics.....no finger pointing or ranting...... just take a moment to honor the fallen.

I consider everyone not involved must have a calling to do other things with their lives.

Thanks.

Yes Bob, I take a moment of silence myself remembering those affected by the horror of that day that is etched in my mind forever. We lost a couple of union brothers, one of whom I happened to know casually. It truly was another "Day of Infamy".

Yes. It was one of the moments in history that etched in your memory where you were and what you were doing at the time.

Re: 9-11-08

Lost some really good finance friends on that day, and one from the American Chamber of Commerce here.

I had been offered a job, to open a "New York/ State Side" office in the building. I was supposed to be there. My stomach feeling said don't do it, but I didn't know why at the time. We know what happened next.

And the company that wanted me to open an office for them, they ended up in a cooking the books, finance fraud investigation here. Met them in court for failure to pay my consulting fees, they lost.

I can only say it was divine intervention, that saved my ***.

My girl friend (she is a Fly Girl) was on a flight to New York when I saw it on TV, and they turned around. She was also on the first Lufthansa flight to the city, after the air traffic controll gave them the green light.

I think about those lost and their families quite often.

I am so sorry SpinnerBait Nut. It all still brings tears to my eyes.

God bless them all.

I am displaying 6 American Flags out by the road in front of my house. Just my small token of remembrance and honor to the fallen.

Re: 9-11-08

In my office this morning I opened my weekly planner and realized it is 9-11. I was surprised how little coverage there was on the radio. After I got home I put on the TV, and still very little coverage by the media. I hope they are not downplaying 9-11 comemorations because of political preference to any presidential candidate.

Re: 9-11-08

Been thinking about todays date for the last 3 days. I just happened to stop by my house to look for some part numbers up on my computer for work. Turned the TV on and it was a very close up shot of the fire coming out of what I thought was a sky rise building. Then the camera backed way off and that is when I saw that it was the WTC. My heart dropped.....The media was so fresh they hadn't a clue,,,,,,then the second plane hit. At that moment I felt we were under attack by someone. I had chill bumps for several hours afterwards......Thoughts and prayers to those that lost loved ones and friends.

There was some talk about it on the forum, but there wasn't very many members then,,,,I think under 5,000 or less..

While this is sorrow for everyone, its a blessing it wasn't more...............SS

Re: 9-11-08

History channel has been running programs about it all day. the one i just watched proved that boaters are the nicest people out there.. on that day all roads/tunnels/trains, every way off the island was closed. thousands of injured people were stuck on the island. thats when every boat in the area came to the island and brought them over to the triage center across the way.. they said every boat from commercial tugs to small personal vessels helped out..

Re: 9-11-08

I wasn't near any of the attack targets, nor did I know any of the victims.

Nevertheless, after my wife and I visited my Dad's hometown in Virginia a couple of years ago, I was compelled to take an unannounced detour. She thought I was lost (and for a while I was), and she wondered what I was up to. We ended up in Shanksville, PA at the Flight 93 crash site. It proved to be a very touching moment for both of us.

It has been 7 years since that day. Seven years. And I'm still not over it. Truth be known, I doubt I ever will be. Maybe that's a good thing.

Re: 9-11-08

Its an important day to think about. As a Canuck I remember it. I turned on the radio in my truck on the way to work and heard about it and just about went into shock. Hopefully it will never happen again.
One of the customers that my wife deals with at her business is a survivor of 9-11. I can't remember which tower he was in but he made it out before it/they fell. He's retired up here now with his wife...really nice guy and seems to be dealing with it well according to my wife.
Regardless, an important day and something to remember for sure.

Re: 9-11-08

Had the opportunity to visit Ground Zero in 03. The clean up was not yet complete at the tower site. There was a posted list of those who lost their lives on site. I took the time to read names.............all of them. I was standing in a large group of people and looking around there were not many many dry eyes, mine included. The list, coupled with the personal notes written in magic marker on the fence post and rails surrounding the Twin Tower area left me with a feelings I'll never forget.

Re: 9-11-08

My Wife and I hung our September 11th flag out this morning (you know the one with the NY skyline embroidered on the field) as we've done this day for the last seven years. I came inside, watched some TV, finished my carbs and reinstalled them listening to the radio the whole time. We ate around 7:30 and of course watched some more TV into the evening and the only thing I?ve seen or heard all day about 9/11 had to do with the candidates going to ground zero together... It's sad how the media in America has ADD when it comes to this day, and seems to mention less and less of what should never be forgotten as the years pass.
It's 11:05, I'm going to take down the flag now and put it away for another year.
